Thank you for considering being my guest on the Tennis Quick Tips podcast! The Tennis Quick Tips podcast provides weekly tennis tips for recreational players looking for quick and easy ways to get better at tennis, without the need for long hours on court or expensive lessons. Each episode is short and concise and provides information that will help players improve their game while having fun on court.
In order to be a guest on Tennis Quick Tips, here is some information you should know:
1. Interview Time – Approximately 45 Minutes
I conduct interviews through Skype and/or Zencastr (usually both). These interviews are recorded by me for publication. I ask that you set aside at least 45 minutes for an interview. This will allow for time to get our connections set up, to get our initial introductory non-interview remarks done, to conduct the actual interview, and to allow for some non-interview closing remarks between us.
2. Use of Skype and Zencastr
I usually conduct interviews in both Skype and Zencastr to make sure I have access to two recordings in case one does not work properly.
For Skype, I will send you an email confirming the details of our interview and ask for your Skype user name. My Skype user name is kimselzman. I will add your Skype username to my contacts sometime before our interview. Please check into your Skype before our interview and accept that request. I will be on Skype at least 10 minutes before our scheduled interview time. Once we connect, I will record our Skype conversation.
If you have not done so already, I ask that you go to https://web.skype.com/ and set up a free Skype user account.
I will also record our interview using Zencastr. This is a dedicated podcast recording site and does not require that you download anything at all to use it. I will send you a link to Zencastr which you just click on. Our interview will then be recorded through Zencastr.
3. Scheduling Your Interview
I will work with you to schedule a date and time for your interview that is convenient for you. Once we confirm your interview date and time, you will receive an email confirmation from me with all of the interview details AND a reminder the day before our interview.
If you have to cancel or re-schedule your appointment, please advise me as soon as possible by email. No worries – it happens – and we can reschedule.
4. Helpful Gear Tips That Will Make You Sound Great
I'm sure you want to sound your best for the podcast so I recommend that you do not participate in our interview with just the microphone and speakers on your computer. This will not produce a very high quality recording and, without head phones, your end of the recording may include not just your voice but also my voice and any ambient noise in your room.
Instead, I recommend that, at a minimum, you use earbuds with a built-in microphone, similar to the earbuds that come with an iPhone. This will produce a nice sounding recording.
If you would like to invest in a headset with a built-in microphone, I recommend this one which is available on Amazon:
Plantronics PLNAUDIO478 Stereo USB Headset for PC
It is available for less than $30. You can find other similar devices on Amazon.
5. Your Topic
We will agree in advance what the topic of your interview will be. I just ask that you keep in mind that my listeners are mostly recreational players who love the sport and are looking for actionable tips. Any background information about you is also of interest to them and I will be sure and ask you about that.
6. Podcast Recording, Editing and Release
Please be aware that I reserve the right to edit our interview before release for such things as brevity, content relevance, audio clarity or noise removal. I will not change your meaning or the heart of our discussion. I may postpone or even withhold release of an interview if I decide, for instance, that there were too many technical issues, the discussion wasn’t relevant or it was ultimately not appropriate for my listeners.
At the beginning of our interview, I will ask you to state on the recording that you are aware you are being recorded and that you give your permission to be recorded.
Upon release, I will create a related blog post on this website containing the show notes for the podcast episode.
Please provide me with your preferred website address, your social media handles and any contact information you would like to have published. I would also greatly appreciate if you could provide an image of yourself (head shot or other relevant photo) for me to use should I choose to.
I hope this information helps you understand my podcast process and I look forward to interviewing you soon. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
